MATLAB: Building Simevents model with Matlab code. Setting the output switch ‘number of ports’ parameter.

Hello, I am trying to build a simevents model using matlab code since it's a big and complex model and is more accurate and quicker to proceed this way.

I am having a problem setting the parameter for the entity output switch regarding the number of ports. When i call the parameter 'ports' in the add_block command, the system returns an error saying that this parameter is read only.

Do you know any way I could get around this?

this is what I m writing:

add_block('built-in/entityoutputswitch',[sys '/os'],'Position',pos,'outputports','70')

and this is what I get:

Error using model (line 53)

EntityOutputSwitch block parameter 'OutputPorts' is read-only

Hi Marco,

If you are trying to set the 'Number of output ports', have you tried the following instead:

add_block('built-in/entityoutputswitch',[sys '/os'],'Position',pos,'NumberOutputPorts','70')

You can see all the dialog parameters available for the block using the following:

>> get_param(gcb, 'DialogParameters')
ans = 
  struct with fields:
       NumberOutputPorts: [1×1 struct]
      SwitchingCriterion: [1×1 struct]
                    Seed: [1×1 struct]
     SwitchAttributeName: [1×1 struct]
    InitialPortSelection: [1×1 struct]

To know the BlockType of any block, add the block to a model and select it. Then in MATLAB window, type the following:

>> h = get_param(gcb, 'Handle');
>> get(h, 'BlockType')
ans =
    'EntityResourceAcquirer'
>>

To add a EntityResourceAcquirer to a model, you can type:

>> add_block('built-in/EntityResourceAcquirer', [gcs '/R1'], 'MakeNameUnique', 'on')

Similarly to know the block parameters for a block, you can select the block in the model and use:

>> get_param(gcb, 'DialogParameters')
ans = 
  struct with fields:
              ResourceName: [1×1 struct]
      ResourceAmountSource: [1×1 struct]
            ResourceAmount: [1×1 struct]
...

Then use the following to set the block's values:

>> set_param(gcb, 'ResourceName', 'Resource1', 'ResourceAmountSource', 'Dialog', 'ResourceAmount', '1')

get_param(gcb,'DialogParameters')

That function returns a struct with all of the dialog parameters for the current block. Or replace gcb with the name of whatever block you care about. The fields of that struct define the parameters of the block that you can interrogate. For a Gain block:

>> d=get_param(gcb,'DialogParameters')
d = 
  struct with fields:
                         Gain: [1×1 struct]
               Multiplication: [1×1 struct]
                     ParamMin: [1×1 struct]
                     ParamMax: [1×1 struct]
             ParamDataTypeStr: [1×1 struct]
                       OutMin: [1×1 struct]
                       OutMax: [1×1 struct]
               OutDataTypeStr: [1×1 struct]
                    LockScale: [1×1 struct]
                      RndMeth: [1×1 struct]
    SaturateOnIntegerOverflow: [1×1 struct]
                   SampleTime: [1×1 struct]
>> get_param(gcb,'OutMax')
ans =
    '[]'
