Is it possible to use yticks only on one side? How to set?

The yticks appear on both sides due to the box being 'on', so to say. Remove them by

box off

This will of course also remove the frame, so here is a bonus hacky solution for retaining the frame

imagesc(rand(100))
box off
ax=gca;
axes('position',ax.Position,'box','on','ytick',[],'xtick',[],'color','none')

Actually, dpb's suggestion of 2 axes should work as long as you don't turn "box on", and you may need to sync their positions if you do things like add axis labels, etc.

fig = figure;
ax(1) = axes(fig,'Color','none');

ax(2).YAxisLocation = 'right';
ax(2).XAxisLocation = 'top';
ax(2).XAxis.TickDirection = 'out'
