MATLAB: How to install a Child License toolbox with a Campus Wide or Enterprise MATLAB License

MATLAB

I would like to know how to install additional toolboxes for a Child License to Campus Wide licensed MATLAB.

Best Answer

The installation methods differ depends on license type of MATLAB Campus Wide License and Child License.
Please install in an applicable procedure with reference to the following tables.
For R2008a or later:
Individual MATLAB / Individual Child / Method 1
Individual MATLAB / Concurrent Child / Method 2
Concurrent MATLAB / Individual Child / Not Applicable
Concurrent MATLAB / Concurrent Child / Method 3
For R2007b or prior:
Individual MATLAB / Individual Child / Method 4
Individual MATLAB / Concurrent Child / Method 5 (Windows/Mac Only)
Concurrent MATLAB / Individual Child / Not Applicable
Concurrent MATLAB / Concurrent Child / Method 6
Method 1 :
=======
Method 1 involves installing the new license in the same method as the first installation. If installing online using the Internet, just choose to install the new license number when prompted. Otherwise follow the manual installation process for the new license according to the installation guide here:
Method 2 :
=======
This method is similar to method 1, except you need to install and configure the network license manager. You can do so according to the installation guide here:
Once complete, install the child products on the client, following the guide here:
NOTE: When installing the client make sure you point to the processed license file created during the license manager installation.
Method 3 :
=======
Same as client installation for Method 2 except for the network license manager. In this case, you must combine the Child license with the MATLAB license on the license server. See the related solution 1-18KTK "Is it possible to run multiple license files from one server?" for information about combining the licenses.
Method 4 :
=======
For a Windows installation you will just need to install the new license with the PLP for the child. There are no special steps other than using the correct PLP with the necessary installation files. For other operating systems, see below:
1. Obtain the child license file from the license Administrator. Administrators can obtain the passcode from the Passcodes tab of the License Center.
2. Edit the license.dat file in the existing MATLAB folder. The license.dat will be in the "etc" subfolder.
3. In the license.dat, remove any lines that start with the following words: SERVER, DAEMON
4. Append the new Child license to the license.dat
5. Run the installer to install the new products. For a Linux/Unix installation, you MUST install the network license manager.
6. Follow the install_guide.pdf in the installer folder for remaining installation steps.
Method 5 :
=======
Method 5 is outlined in solution 1-171JQ - "Is it possible to install a standalone license of MATLAB and access Concurrent
toolboxes?". See the related solution for the installation steps.
Method 6 :
=======
In this case, you must combine the Child license with the MATLAB license on the license server. See the related solution 1-18KTK "Is it possible to run multiple license files from one server?" for information about combining the licenses. Once the license files are combined run the installation of the new toolboxes. For a Windows installation you will need the PLP and the full license file from the license server. For Unix/Linux/Mac, you will just need the full license file. When installation, you can choose to skip installation of any product that is already installed.
