MATLAB: Do I get an error “xsetup: no such file or directory” when installing MATLAB on Linux

MATLAB

I get the following error when running installer:
ERROR: -------------------------------------------------------------------
An error status was returned by the program 'xsetup',
the X Window System version of 'install'. The following
messages were written to standard error:
/tmp/mathworks_downloads/update/install/main.sh: line 86:
/tmp/mathworks_downloads/update/bin/glnx86/xsetup: file not found
What does this error mean and how can I resolve it?

This error will occur if you are installing MATLAB from download and you downloaded the wrong set of binaries for your architecture. If you have 32-bit Linux, you should have downloaded the files labeled "Linux." In this case you should have files that are named *.common and *.glnx86. If you have 64-bit Linux you should have downloaded the files labeled "Linux x86-64". In that case, you should have files that are named *.common as well as the *.glnxa64 files.
Once you have the correct set of files downloaded, launch the installer once more. You should be able to complete the installation once the appropriate files have been downloaded.
If you are still unable to install after downloading the new binaries, contact Installation and Licensing Support here:
