I have installed a clean version of MacOs and also a new versione of MacTex. While compiling a tex file, i get the following error
Package inputenc Error: Unicode character γ (U+3B3)(inputenc) not set up for use with LaTeX.
If I compile the same file on the old version of MacOs I don't get this error. Is there any setting of the package inputenc should I change?
It is an error arising from the bibliography file .bbl
on line 136 of your source you have
U+005c REVERSE SOLIDUS \ \backslash \textbackslash
U+006f LATIN SMALL LETTER O o
U+0077 LATIN SMALL LETTER W w
U+0061 LATIN SMALL LETTER A a
U+2061 FUNCTION APPLICATION
U+0028 LEFT PARENTHESIS ( \lparen (
U+0045 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER E E
So if you delete everything form the ( back to \owa and then retype the \owa ( without the invisible U+2061 character before the ( then it should be fine.
Note this is unrelated to using mactex or linux etc, you may have U+2061 defined in a package in one place and not the other, it is not defined by default.
If you want to declare it rather than remove it just use
\DeclareUnicodeCharacte{2061}{}
which declares it and makes it do nothing.
As you don't provide the expected MWE, I don't know what \acro does.
But generally speaking, to declare unknown Unicode characters you should load:
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
and use:
\DeclareUnicodeCharacter{<unicode-in-hexa>}{<latex-code>}
that is to say in your case:
\DeclareUnicodeCharacter{00B2}{\ensuremath{{}^2}}
A simpler alternative :
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{newunicodechar}
\newunicodechar{²}{\ensuremath{{}^2}}

I have just pasted:
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\DeclareUnicodeCharacter{00B2}{\ensuremath{{}^2}}
or
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{newunicodechar}
\newunicodechar{²}{\ensuremath{{}^2}}
at the beginning of the preamble of your MWE, and (after correction of BCOR1cm into BCOR=1cm) it works without any error or warning, and gives in both cases:

I had the same error from a reference in a bib file. I left the bib file as is and used
\DeclareUnicodeCharacter{03B3}{$\gamma$}and it worked a treat. Now the$\gamma$comes up nicely!
