symbolstypography
I've tried to search for the symbol (Ξ) online, but everytime I find a reference to the greek Xi symbol, which looks like it but is not identical.

I already have \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} in my document.
How do I make the symbol (Ξ) in LateX?
You need to load the amssymb package.
(In LyX: choose "document"-->"settings"--> "latex preamble" , copy \usepackage{amssymb} into the empty region on the right side, press "apply" and "close")
You could, of course, use TikZ for this:
The symbol will scale with your font size, since it uses ex to define the path.

You also may use the sans-serif text fonts
TeX Gyre AdventororTeX Gyre Heros, which have the Greek glyphs.
