[Tex/LaTex] First steps in Texmaker

I just started to write my Bachelor thesis and I have to do that in Latex.

Yesterday I downloaded the Texmaker and started to work on it, when I tried to check the Pdf I found out, that I still need to download the Miktex to get a pdf..

Now when I press Quick Build I just get the following :

pdflatex-syntex=1-interaction=nonstopmode%.tex

Can anyone help?

Should be written with spaces before - and before %.tex:

pdflatex -syntex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex

Goto TeXmakers config and insert the spaces in the commands tab

For the recent version (4.1.1) of Texmaker, the solution provided in How do I open a pdf file in the TexMaker internal PDF viewer using a user-defined quick build sequence? should still work and open the internal PDF viewer instead of the external one.

In TeXstudio (current version: 2.7.0), however, the implementation has changed: Now the internal PDF viewer is opened by specifying txs:///view-pdf-internal¹ in the user-defined Quick Build command. So the correct call would be

pdflatex -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex|bibtex %.aux|pdflatex -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex|pdflatex -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex|pdflatex -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex|txs:///view-pdf-internal

in your case.

¹Until TeXstudio version 2.5.1, it was tmx://internal-pdf-viewer.

[Tex/LaTex] Configuring Texmaker to run mpost for FeynMP Graphics

With an updated TeX Live 2012 there's no need to call mpost from the command line, since this program is allowed to be called during the LaTeX run. Just modify the definition of \endfmffile to do the Metapost run.

This will produce abc.1 that will be included on the next run, with the usual command line call.

With MiKTeX it might not work, depending if mpost is allowed in the "restricted shell".
