MATLAB: Surf plot using meshgrid

Hello everybody,

I have a set of snr values for defects in a concrete specimen for different depths as attached in excel sheet. I used the wavelet method to analyze them into several levels.

Anyhow, I need them to be plotted into 3D by using the command surf. Would snybody help me with that?

Try this :

snr_data = xlsread('snr values.xlsx');
depth = [1,2,3,5];
level = 1:7;
depth_mesh = meshgrid(depth,level).';
level_mesh = meshgrid(level,depth);
surf(depth_mesh,level_mesh,snr_data)

If you want to show the contour lines on the surf plot, try this:

D = load('Surface_Data.mat');
B = D.B;
figure
surfc(B)
shading('interp')
hold on
contour3(B, 'r', 'LineWidth',2)
hold off
grid on

Experiment to get the result you want.

It depends what your data are.

If you are currently using scatter3 or plot3, and your data are reasonably ordered, instead use surf.

If your data are random, create a surface using griddata (or similar functions) to interpolate your point data to a surface that surf can use.
