You can use your student license to create software that is required by your course of study.
If you are working with an industrial company as part of your studies, it is fine to create software based upon needs or techniques you experience at the company. However, the software has to be submitted to your university, and the industry company cannot keep a copy of the software that was created with a student license.
If the industrial company pays for commercial MATLAB licenses, then it would be acceptable to use the commercial license to write your software project to submit to university and for them to keep a copy of the software.
Anything the company gets to keep has to have been developed on a commercial license.
(There might be some situations in which a company got to keep software developed with an Educational license, but Mathworks would have to approve it... although Educational licenses can be used to create Open Source software.)
