MATLAB: Simscape Hydraulics mass flow rate vs pressure drop

I am trying to create a block that will allow me to output the pressure drop for a given mass flow rate into the block.

From supplier datasheets, I know the pressure drop of a component for a given mass flow rate is given as dP = 0.01612*Q*Q. Is there a simple way to create a simscape hydraulic block that will provide the pressure drop for a given flow rate?

Please try the block Fixed Orifice Empirical. In this block, you can specify a table of pressure differentials and flow rates.

In general, "Cross-sectional area of port A/B" represents the area of the connection to that block. The cross-sectional area at ports A and B of the flow resistance block usually have small impact on the flow rate through the block. The parameter exists because we need to determine the direction of flow and provide a smoothing for the temperature at a connection node when the flow direction changes (i.e. flow reversal). The threshold for smoothing the nodal temperature based on a Mach number, so the cross-sectional area at the port is used to divide the mass flow rate to get the velocity and Mach number.

There are three flow rate components associated with the moving piston:

    - flow rate caused by the piston motion,             q = A * v,
    - flow rate caused by the fluid compressibility,   q = V/E * dp/dt
    - flow rate due to leakage, if any                         q = K_l * p.

The flow rate associated with the piston velocity is accounted in the hydro-mechanical converter while the compressibility-caused flow is accounted in the variable volume chamber block. It gives you the possibility to build cylinder models with various level of idealization of a very limited set of building blocks.
