MATLAB: Do I receive License Manager Error -2

When starting MATLAB, I receive the following error:
License checkout failed. Invalid license file syntax. License Manager Error -2.

This error may be the result of having extra carriage returns in your license file. In order to avoid this, ensure that the following strings all begin on a left justified line: #, SERVER, DAEMON, or INCREMENT. Sometimes an INCREMENT line can get wrapped on the end of the preceding INCREMENT line causing it to be omitted. You may also see this error when the license file has been edited using Microsoft Word, or a similar word processor. When editing the license file, be sure to use a plain text editor like WordPad or TextEdit.
If the license file was emailed to you, try downloading it from the mathworks.com license center, or have your administrator create a new one for you.
