MATLAB: Is it possible to install the Matlab mobile connector if I do not have write permission to the MATLAB Installation folder

Hello,

As the title says, I would like to know if is it possible to install the Matlab mobile connector if I do not have write permission to the MATLAB Installation folder ? I'm on linux, it is not possible to install it on my homespace ?

Hi Marc. Yes, but it is not as easy. You need to unzip the MATLABConnector.zip file to your desired directory, and then add the "toolbox/connector/connector" directory to your path.

For R2013a and newer releases:

The Mobile Connector is built into MATLAB itself. Once MATLAB is installed, and execute:

>> connector on

You will then be prompted to specify a password as this is the first time running the connector, followed by being provided the IP address and DNS name of your machine.

If the "connector" function is unrecognized, you will need to navigate to the following location in the MATLAB command window before executing the command: $MATLAB\toolbox\matlab\connector\connector\ (connector.p) (Where $MATLAB) is the MATLAB installation directory.

NOTE: You must be associated to a valid license for MATLAB with download permissions to download the MATLAB Mobile Connectors. Students can download the Connector so long as their MathWorks account is registered for student use with a currently registered serial number.

Activating a MATLAB trial on an offline machine is the same process as a professional MATLAB license, however installing has 2 main differences:

.iso downloads are only available for certain trials.
In the License Center, trials show up by pressing "Trials" button, visible in the upper left corner of the license center.
