MATLAB: How to use the “Test Connectivity” feature of Admin Center

MATLAB Parallel Server

When attempting to add my Host machines in the Admin Center, I receive connection errors. This prevents me from connecting to a Host machine or starting the MJS service on those machines. How do I use the "Test Connectivity" feature of AdminCenter to obtain additional information?

The "Test Connectivity" feature of Admin Center can be used to see additional information regarding why your list Host machines are not able to communicate with each other. As communication between Hosts is essential for MATLAB Distributed Computing Server to function, this information may be vital to continuing with troubleshooting your setup.
To run "Test Connectivity", follow these steps:
  1. Launch Admin Center on your MATLAB Parallel Server headnode at $MATLAB Parallel Server\toolbox\distcomp\bin\admincenter.bat (where $MATLAB Parallel Server is your installation directory for MATLAB Parallel Server)
  2. Make sure at least 2 machines have been added to the Hosts section of Admin Center (the "Reachable" and "Status" values do not matter, as long as at least 2 machines can be found in this list)
  3. Click the "Test Connectivity..." button
  4. On the following 'Connectivity Testing' screen, click the "Run" button
Once the test is finished running, a results screen will be displayed. For additional information about the results you received, click on the "Log" tab, the "More Info..." button, or double click on any of the individual icons displayed for each of the tests that were run.
NOTE: Starting in R2019a the following name changes occurred:
  • MATLAB Distributed Computing Server was renamed to MATLAB Parallel Server
  • mdce_def was renamed to mjs_def
  • mdce binary was renamed to mjs
