How to resolve blank Simulink Configuration Parameters Window?

The issue was resolved by trying to ping localhost:

$ ping localhost

Then if you see:

ping: cannot resolve localhost: Unknown host

Please check the hosts-file in private/etc/ if it is empty.

If this is the situation, then please restore the hosts-file. Note that you may need to reboot your machine afterwards.

If this is not the cause, then simply try rebooting your computer. If the issue persists, please contact Technical Support.
