MATLAB: How to do stem plots centered around a function

Hi!

I want to use stem plots for showing the deviation of measured values from an equation and think stem is a good choice.

However, I have not found a way of doing these stem plots centered from anything else than a constant (basevalue).

Is there anything like a baseline that I could express my equation in and get the stem plots centered around?

You can use uistack(). For example, consider this code

x = 1:10;
y = rand(1,10);
hold on
s = scatter(x, y, 'filled', 'SizeData', 100);
p = plot(x, y, 'LineWidth', 2);

the line will be over the scatter points. You can bring the scatter point on top using

uistack(s, 'top')

I suggest you to use quiver function:

y = 0:10;
u = 25-(y-5).^2;
quiver(0*y,y,u,0*u)

Of course you can do it with stem function:

x = 0:10;
y = 25-(x-5).^2;
stem(x,y)
view(90,90)
