MATLAB: How to assign or unassign products if validation is not enabled on the license

MATLAB

When I go to the License Center, it says that Validation must be enabled to assign/unassign products, but I have validation turned off. I would like to assign products to the license without switching this back on. How do I do so in that case?

Best Answer

It is possible to reassign products when validation is not enabled. To do so, you will need to deactivate any current activations before proceeding. Once complete, you can reactivate the license. To assign products when validation is disabled, follow the instructions below:
1. Log in to MathWorks.com and go to the License Center.
2. Click the row for the license that needs products assigned to it. Below, click the Activation & Installation tab.
3. For each of the activations listed under Activation Label, click the label and make note of the Host ID name(s). To find the Login Name(s), click Get License File, then click the dropdown box for Login Name. You will need these two attributes when you reactivate in Step 6.
4. For every activation, click the Deactivate button to the right and proceed to deactivate the activation. With Validation disabled, the License Center will not allow you to assign products unless everything has been deactivated.
5. Go to the License Details tab and click Assign/Unassign Products to select products that you want to have on this license.
6. Once the license has the correct products, you will have to reactivate. Go to the Activation and Installation tab and click Activate. When it asks for the Host ID and Login Name, use the attributes that you made note of in Step 3. When you activate, download the File Installation Key and the License File.
7. For each of the machines that are now activated, run the MATLAB installer and install manually with the File Installation Key and License File.
