MATLAB: How to add a drop-down menu for a certain column in a UItable in App Designer

I read data from excel file using readtable command as follows:

app.data=readtable("Data.xlsx",'Sheet',1);
app.UITable.Data = app.data;
app.UITable.ColumnName=app.data.Properties.VariableNames;
app.UITable.ColumnEditable = true;

The Data consists of 6 columns, I want to add drop-down menu to column 4, then a correspond value appears in column 5 based on the selection in column 4 and use the value in column 5 and multiple it with the value in column 3 and the asnwer appears in column 6

Refer to Matlabs documentation on the uitable's ColumnFormat property which demonstrates how to set up pop-up menus within a column of a uitable by setting that columns' format as a cell array of options.

The ColumnEditable property of column 5 & 6 should be set to false since you plan to programmatically set those values.

The rest can be achieved by table indexing and whatever math you apply.

Hello,

The position of drop-down menus does not affect its functionality. I understand you would like to add two drop-down menus adjacent to each other.

You could drag and drop the Drop-down menu and can edit the component browser on the right panel to edit the options displayed under the drop-down menus.

The property that allows the UITable to be edited by the user of the App is "ColumnEditable".

You can also set this programmatically by writing

app.UITable.ColumnEditable = true

This will allow users of the App to modify every cell in the table.

If you want to allow modification to only some columns, for example the first static and the second editable, you can set this value to a logical array like this:

app.UITable.ColumnEditable = [false, true];

After a user makes edits, it can be helpful to use the new data or indices in the app.

As an example, you could write the table to a file for later use using the UITable "CellEditCallback":

% Cell edit callback: UITable
function UITableCellEdit(app, event)
     indices = event.Indices;
     newData = event.NewData;
     writetable(app.UITable.Data, "test.xlsx")
end
