MATLAB: Does the location of the license file need to be stored locally when I browse to it during installation or activation

Question

When activating a license or installing a network license, I am prompted to browse to the license file. I would like to know if it is possible to browse to the license file on the license server, or if I have to store the file locally on the client computer.

The license file must either be stored on the local machine, or on a network share that is accessible from the client computer. When browsing to the license file, you should be able to access network locations where the license file can be located.

After you select the license file, it will be copied to a local directory.
