MATLAB: Do the axes properties of the Scope block not update when using the SET_PARAM function in Simulink 6.0 (R14)

I use the SET_PARAM function to set the labels of my Scope block, as in the following code:

A = struct('axes1',{'TopGraph'},'axes2',{'BottomGraph'})
set_param('myExample/Scope1','AxesTitles',A);

When I view the parameters with the GET_PARAM function, the AxesTitles property appears to have been successfully changed, as shown below.

get_param('myExample/Scope1','AxesTitles')

However, when the Scope block graphs are viewed in Simulink, the AxesTitles are not changed.

This works correctly if all the commands are executed before opening the scope. If the scope is open before setting the new axes titles, then it will be updated at the start of simulation or when you update the model.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 2011b (R2011b). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:

You can export your data to MATLAB and use the SIMPLOT command to plot your data from MATLAB. This will generate a MATLAB figure that will allow you to change the figure properties. For more information, type 'help simplot' at the MATLAB command window prompt.

If you need to manipulate the Scope window for simulation, you can use the following snippet of code:

NOTE: Simulink does not support manipulating graphics properties using the Scope or Signal Viewer handle. When manipulating any graphics properties, do not change or alter the structure of the scope. For example, you should not delete any of the graphical objects (text, axes, menus, etc) in the scope as this could lead to unstable behavior.

We have verified this is a bug in Simulink 6.0 (R14) in the way a Model block handles having an image. As a workaround, you can right-click on the Model block and select 'Open Model' to open the referenced model.
