MATLAB: Do I get an unexpected exception (null) error when installing student toolboxes from downloads

MATLAB

When I try to install my new R14SP1 student toolboxes into my current R14SP1 student installation it fails. I receive the error:
Unexpected Exception (Null)
I have all of the unextracted toolbox .zip files and the installer.exe in a temporary directory with no other files. When I run the installer.exe I receive the error above when the GUI opens. It does not close the installation though. I continue with the installation, when I get to products to install the box is empty and I get a new error:
There are no products to install

Best Answer

To resolve this issue:
1) Reboot the computer into Windows Safe Mode by pressing F8 when the computer starts up.
2) Login as the local account "Administrator"
3) Run this installation again while logged in as Administrator.
Note: Make sure that only the .zip files and the installer.exe are in this folder. Residual files from the previous installation attempt may be left in this folder. Remove these if they exist, leave only the products .zip file(s) and the installer.exe.
The toolbox installation should now run without errors.
