MATLAB: Device communication

I need help with reading data from a device. My code :

s1 = serial('COM4');
s1.BaudRate = 9600;
s1.DataBits = 8;
s1.Parity = 'none';
s1.StopBits = 1;
s1.FlowControl = 'none';
s1.Terminator ='CR';
fopen(s1);
fread(s1);
fclose(s1);
delete(s1);

The problem occurs, because I have to send/transmit a macro to the device. Macro is ACK(acknowledgment/006) in ASCII. I don't know how to do this. What should I add to my code?

So I think this might be what you're looking for. I commented out the 'i' redefinition at the very bottom and added 'figure' but to answer the coloring question I recommend using the mod (for modulus) command. If you specify

color{mod(i-1,4)+1}

the values, for i=1:8 for example, will go:

color{1}
color{2}
color{3}
color{4}
color{1}
color{2}
color{3}
color{4}

and the pattern will keep repeating for varying 'i' definitions. Here is the modified code:

Change

fid2 = fopen( fileout, 'w' );

fid2 = fopen( fileout, 'wt' );

and remove the \r from each of the format strings.

Note: how it shows up will depend on which method you use to output it. Not all MS Windows operations know that \r\n is to be treated together as a single newline.
