MATLAB: Command for saving .M files

Hi there! Are you all ok ?

I got a problem: I would save a .M file by another .M file; this would be usefull for me, because I often modify several files, all used by a single file after. So, could anyone tell me, if it exists, wich is the command to save a .M file, by another .M file ??

    % file1.m
    % HAS BEEN JUST EDITED, BUT NOT YET SAVED
    % 
    % file2.m
    % save(file1.m)  <--- PSEUDO CODE FOR SAVING file1.m

It was so simply !!

I had just to write :

    % save file1.m

Yeah !!!

Don't do the save because that saves the m file as a binary .mat format file.

To save the file, just

click on the save icon on the tool ribbon, or
type control-s, or
just click on another tab (another m-file you're editing) and it will probably save it automatically.

% Get the name of the file that the user wants to save.
% Note, if you're saving an image you can use imsave() instead of uiputfile().
startingFolder = userpath % Or "pwd" or wherever you want.
defaultFileName = fullfile(startingFolder, '*.*');
[baseFileName, folder] = uiputfile(defaultFileName, 'Specify a file');
if baseFileName == 0
  % User clicked the Cancel button.
  return;
end
fullFileName = fullfile(folder, baseFileName)
% Now save whatever variables you want into a mat file
save(fullFileName, 'yourVariable1', 'yourVariable2');
