MATLAB: Can a Windows 8 64-bit machine be used as the host for xPC Target 5.3 (R2012b)

I would like to know if a Windows 8 machine can be the xPC Target host. Is this possible?

Windows 8 is not officially support as the operating system for the host machine in xPC Target 5.3 (R2012b). That said MathWorks internally have used Windows 8 as the host for R2012b and it did work but it hasn’t been fully tested yet and there may be outstanding issues that we haven’t encountered.
However, MATLAB 8.1 (R2013a) does offer support for Windows 8. In R2013a Windows 8 is supported as a host operating system.
