MATLAB: Am I unable to start the installer for R2010b or later on a 32-bit Mac

When I try to install R2010b or later on a 32 bit Mac, I get an error in the console that it can't find the architecture maci64.

Releases 2010b and later are 64-bit only for Mac OS X. To check if you have a 32-bit Mac, go to the Apple menu and select About This Mac. In the Processor field, it will say you have an Intel Core Duo or Intel Core Solo if your Mac is 32-bit. If it says Core 2 Duo or anything else, you have a 64 bit Mac and should be able to run R2010b.
