I like to use TeXworks as a text editor for latex documents. I just have a question with a keyboard shortcut. When I type bite + TAB, I've got the following result :
\begin{itemize}
\item
\end{itemize}•
I'm just wondering why there is a dot at the end. Does anyone has an answer ?
I had exactly the same problem after moving the last section from one capter_y.tex to somewhere in chapter_x.tex. After moving, the chapter after chapter_y.tex, chapter_z.tex, failed when trying "jump to pdf"/"jump to source"
I have no idea why this worked, but solved the problem by including \clearpage before the failing chapter:
\documentclass[a4paper,norsk,11pt,twoside]{book}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
...
\input{chapter_x}
\input{chapter_y}
\input{chapter_z}
to
...
\input{chapter_x}
\input{chapter_y}
\clearpage
\input{chapter_z}
In my case, using \include{.}, instead of \input{.} for both the chapter preceding the problem chapter, and the problem chapter itself also worked, since
\include{.} == \clearpage \input{.} \clearpage
I'm using MikTex 2.9, Windows 7 32bit.

Depending on the operating system it can be possible; it isn't on Mac OS X (no Linux box available now and no Windows at all).
Instead, use regular expressions, which is possible by checking the appropriate option
This should teach everybody about never using TAB in TeX files. ;-)

The bullets added by the autocompletion feature in TeXworks are there for navigational purposes. By hitting Ctrl + Tab the cursor will move to the position of the bullet, and the next bullet will be selected. With Ctrl + Shift + Tab you jump to the previous bullet.
This allows you to quickly jump out the the environment or whatever it is you've added.
