I would like to insert \tableofcontents[currentsection] in my presentation. Unfortunately I have not so many sections, so the space between the "items" is too much.
I don't wont to change the \documentclass[compress, 10pt]{beamer} option at the beginning because otherwise it will change the dimension of all the document that is ok for me.
Is it possible to reduce the space? And how?

Scaling the font or resizing an entire block of text to make things fit is usually not a good idea from a typesetting point of view, since it introduces inconsistencies for the end-user (reader in this case). Fiddling with the spacing is a more viable option, since the font size is left untouched. However, this may be a moot point if your equation (or whatever) is "a little bit too large". Perhaps then, resizing things will not be as noticeable to the viewer/reader.
If you want an absolute resizing, then \resizebox{<hlen>}{<vlen>}{<stuff>} from the graphicx package would work:

The internal command \beamer@sectionintoc (defined in the file beamerbasetoc.sty) controls how the section entries will be typeset in the ToC; it issues a \vskip1.5em that adds vertical spacing between section entries. With the help of the etoolbox package you can easily patch the command to add less vertical spacing.

Try using
\clearpageimmediately after the table of contents. The\clearpagecommand forces everything above it to float to the top of the page in normal spacing rather than fill the page using even spacing.
