[Tex/LaTex] Roman page numbers in appendix in Lyx

I use LyX 2.0.5.1

I have a report with several chapters and 2 appendices.
I have roman page numbering before chapter 1 (for table of contents, table of figures, etc) and I have arabic page numbering from chapter 1 until the end. However, I would like my 2 appendices to switch to roman page numbering, starting from i (1 in arabic numbering).

This is the code that was generated by LyX for the 1st appendix:

I have tried to add the \pagenumbering{roman} in several places near the start of the appendix chapter but it does not work.

Insert an ERT with \clearpage\pagenumbering{roman} just before you start the appendices.

Some considerations for your code:

You don't need to repeatedly set secnumdepth. Once is sufficient, as it will hold from there onward;
\pagenumbering resets the page counter to 1, so you don't have to do it explicitly;
Most (if not all) document classes offer \listoffigures and \listoftables just like \tableofcontents, so use them. By default, the List of Figures and Tables will not show up in the ToC.
Issue \cleardoublepage (or just \clearpage if not using twoside mode) before you start with \chapter{Introduction} just like you did before \tableofcontents (using \newpage). This will flush all content up to that point and start a new page and the appropriate page numbering will follow.

Without more detail, the document structure should resemble:

If the standard setup is applied, no empty second page of the ToC should appear, regardless whether \tableofcontents, \listoffigures etc. is used.

I have used a loop to generate dummy chapters, dummy figures and dummy tables just in order to fill up the corresponding list of something (;-)) and removed the \thispagestyle{empty} used directly after \tableofcontents by the OP.

Basically, Torbjorn T. changed already the code sample in the OP to a working one ;-)
