[Tex/LaTex] Problems configuring TeXMaker to use XeTeX

I tried to use user command "xelatex %" or change quick build to "User" with "xelatex %", but neither one gives any output when executed. Why is that?

Try to run it "by hand" to see what output do you get. Open the Terminal for Linux/Mac OS X or Command Prompt in Windows and then run:

xelatex <name>.tex

I also tested it with "Options-> Configure TeXmaker" and changing the latex command to xelatex. When I now run it with the coice latex it works. enter image description here

Yes, go to Options->Configure TeXmaker->Quickbuild->User->Wizard, and then add the commands in succession. You can also do this manually by separating adjacent commands with a vertical bar.

With an updated TeX Live 2012 there's no need to call mpost from the command line, since this program is allowed to be called during the LaTeX run. Just modify the definition of \endfmffile to do the Metapost run.

This will produce abc.1 that will be included on the next run, with the usual command line call.

With MiKTeX it might not work, depending if mpost is allowed in the "restricted shell".
