[Tex/LaTex] Lyx bibliography displaying section number

I am using LyX to write my thesis. I am using a BibTeX Generated Bibliography (generated in Jabref) which works fine. I just have one problem, in the actual PDF, the Bibliography section after each reference, the section where that reference was cited is printed out, for example:

[1] R. Budwig, “Refractive index matching methods for liquid flow investigations,” Experiments in Fluids, vol. 17, no. 5, pp. 350–355, 1994. 2.7.4

Where "2.7.4" is the section where this reference is cited.

Is this related to my overall master style file, or is it just a simple setting in LyX that I can disable?

Usually the back references are inserted by package backref. Either it is loaded explicitly or it is loaded by package hyperref via options backref or pagebackref. I am not familiar with Lyx, but at least you have some hints, what needs to be changed.

After experiments using the helpful tips from this post, I found an automatic solution that works:

At the top of the master thesis document add a new TeX command (using Insert>TeX Code) that identifies that we are building the complete thesis:

\newcommand{\FULLTHESIS}{} %Id that we are building the complete thesis

Then in each chapter enclose the bibliography (or any other items that should only appear when the chapter is created standalone) between two raw TeX Code blocks as follows:

\ifdefined\FULLTHESIS\else  %TeX way of saying if not defined FULL_THESIS

Insert the Bibilography (etc) Here

\fi

Note: I could not get some of the more elegant TeX approaches from the post such as \newif and the LaTeX macro \@ifundefined to work properly in my document under LyX.

To cite an item from your bibliography in the text, choose Insert --> Citation, or click the Add citation button on the toolbar: enter image description here

In the window that pops up you'll get a list of items in the bibliography, double click the one(s) you want to cite, and press OK.
