[Tex/LaTex] latex doesn’t display numbers in caption with beamerposter

i'm making a poster using beamerposter and i'm having a problem with subfigures and caption. The problem is that latex is only showing the caption text, but doesn't show the letters like ((a) caption a)

Here is what i'm doing:

The problem is that the theme used has

\setbeamercolor{structure}{fg=white}

and when building numbered captions, beamer uses (see the file beamerbaseauxtemplates.sty):

\usebeamercolor[fg]{caption name}

so the caption number will appear white over a light background and will be almost invisible; to correct this, set the caption name color appropriately; for example (change red to the desired color):

\setbeamercolor{caption name}{fg=red}

For the vertical alignment, you can use the [t] option (or [T] to force it) (see a related question and its second answer, Stable vertical alignment of columns in Beamer)

As for the second point, it is, I think, a problem with the horizontal centering of columns. It may vary from one theme to another (see this answer How to center blocks and columns in beamer). For instance, using the default, the CambridgeUS or the PaloAlto theme, this problem seems to disappear. I guess you would have to try and find another theme that does not cause this issue and suits you.

[Tex/LaTex] Beamerposter missing header with title

The standard beamer themes are set up for presentations rather than posters and so it shouldn't be a surprise that they look inappropriate. The headline is in fact functioning correctly - add \section{Foo}\subsection{Bar} before the frame and you can see this appear in the section title but in normal-sized text which looks tiny on a poster.

You might like to take a look at (or use directly) some of the themes the developer provides for beamerposter to get an idea of what is needed to customise a standard theme https://github.com/deselaers/latex-beamerposter

The below is a simple redefinition of headline to work with the Berlin theme in a manner suitable for beamerposter something similar may be necessary for the footline, alternatively you can use one of the themes from https://github.com/deselaers/latex-beamerposter as a more readily hackable solution
