[Tex/LaTex] Is MikTeX 22.3 the latest version for Windows LaTeX

Dear friends: Due to some reasons, I am trying to reinstall LaTeX in my Windows.. I got MikTeX 22.3 (64 bit). Basic install I am using. Is it the latest version? I need the full package, but I hope that basic install is enough to start my work, as I need to run LaTeX urgently for my class notes. Thanks!

Just go to the official website and download the latest version, see https://miktex.org/download.

Of use the Net Installer that let's you install the complete feature set (my recommendation).

The following command worked for me, under cygwin. I installed pandoc 1.13.2 and MiKTeX 2.9.5105 64-bit. Then I ran:

pandoc -s \
--latex-engine='C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\x64\pdflatex.exe'  \
-f markdown_github -t latex \
"my-file.md" -o "my-file.pdf"

The key here is that I gave the full path for MiKText's pdflatex.exe in the --latex-engine key, in quotes, using the windows path (as the pandoc I installed is the windows pandoc, it requires windows-style paths to find resources).

I used -f markdown_github because of the file format of my-file.md

I used -t latext but that's optional AFAIK.

For some reason the file locations like:

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\.....

was getting set to "read only" automatically during installation (in my system).

I did the following and it worked.

Temporarily disable the Antivirus (McAfee)
Manually open the folder C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\... Then right click, go to properties and unset the Attribute Read Only. When windows asks, tell it to do it recursively for all the subfolders.

After that the installation runs smoothly and I was able to compile the TeX files (I was using Winedt as the editor).

I am not sure if disabling the antivirus was essential though.
