[Tex/LaTex] Installing pdflatex

I've been working with miktex for a while, recently I installed texlive instead, and found pdflatex for each manager is different, I'd like to unninstall pdflatex from the texlive manager and install pdflatex from miktex. Where do I find the it? I need it because of the option -include-directory=DIR

You should not mix TeX binaries of different TeX distributions. If you like to use pdflatex of MiKTeX, install a minimal MiKTeX. To avoid doubling of all packages you can install the TEXMF tree of TeX Live (usually texlive/<year>/texmf-dist) as an additional TEXMF root with MiKTeX settings.

As an alternative you could fake the -include-directory option using a batch, that extends TEXINPUTS variable before calling TeX Live's pdflatex.

A trustworthy source is CTAN. There's a system directory, and a win32 directory below that. There you can choose your executable.

An obvious choice is

where you can find pdftex-w32.tar.bz2. This is the engine (binary), then you need a LaTeX format file, and I guess you would like to have the base classes and styles too, so download latex.tar.bz2 as well.

IPELATEXPATH is an environment variable, not a command line option.

So either you call the program as

IPELATEXPATH=/usr/local/texlive/2012/bin/x86_64-linux ipe

or, better, you set

export IPELATEXPATH=/usr/local/texlive/2012/bin/x86_64-linux

in your .bashrc file (or .profile or whatever you prefer).

Caveat. Older versions of Ipe might want IPELATEXDIR.
