Something is bothering me while I use LaTeX. If using, for example, Word, it will automatically capitalize the first letter of the beginning of each sentence and also suggesting to make some other punctuation etc.
At this point, is there any tool or package available for this matter for LaTeX?
UPDATE: babel v3.9, released in March 2013, introduces a set of \babelhyphen macros -- see section 1.6 of the manual for details. In particular, \babelhyphen{nobreak} (the non-starred version) provides a non-breakable hyphen which allows hyphenation in the rest of the word -- for the present question, this may be used to define a new shorthand which removes the need to look up allowed breakpoints. (Note: Sometimes, the first allowed breakpoint will be located three or less characters after the non-breakable hyphen; if you consider such a breakpoint as inadequate, use my original answer.)

ORIGINAL ANSWER: Use babel's "~ shorthand to add an explicit hyphen with prohibited line break; supplement this by using the "- shorthand to specify the first allowed follow-up breakpoint. (You will have to look up those with \showhyphens{Schwierigkeit}. See pp. 5--7 of the documentation of the german package for details and other shorthands. (Note: the babel shorthands originate from the german package, which is considered obsolete nowadays.)
By the way, using "~ but not "- in your example would produce an overfull hbox.

Bringhurst has a few challenging comments about footnotes, including a mild "don't do that", but the relevant one for this question is (The Elements of Typographic Style, v3.2, pp68-69):
4.3.2 Check the weight and spacing of superscripts. ... "Superscripts frequently come at the ends of phrases or sentences. If they are high above the line, they can be kerned over a comma or [full stop], but this may endanger readability, especially if the text is set in a modest size."

This is a misunderstanding: LaTeX doesn't help you to write your text, which is the job of the editor. I'm quite confident that such a thing (capitalize each first letter after a dot) can be achieved with emacs or vim.
Word is all and everything in one: editor, typesetting machine, spreadsheet and so on and does nothing really well (OK, millions of people disagree).
As an alternative solution you could use Word as the editor:
Save your file as
.txtand uselatexmkto compile it in the background. Disclaimer: Did not try this myself; it is a really strange idea.
