How to Get a List of All Labels in a LaTeX Document in WinEdt

I am writing a large document using LaTeX and WinEdt. I have labeled each chapter, section and so on. I would like to print out a list of just the labels (so that I don't duplicate one later on, and so that I have it handy in order to write \refs).

Is there a way to do this?

This can be done in a very simple manner directly within WinEdt:

Show the Gather interface (from the View menu in WinEdt>=6)
Press the Collect Items button in its toolbar
Jump to the Label tab and there you can see all your labels

Also, you can now press the button Copy in the interface toolbar and paste it in a blank document to perform a search on your labels

Use the package refcheck. It is

Intended to check references in a document, looking for numbered but unlabelled equations, for labels which are not used in the text, for unused bibliography references.

Note that it checks for labels that are not used in the text but not for tables and figures that are not labelled. Thus if you got a table or figure without a label you'll not get warned. If you compile the following you'll get a demonstration of its core features (the idea for this is from the package's excellent demo):

The last two equations will be marked by "?" in the output because they're not labelled and referred to. The table and figure will be marked by "?" because they're labelled but not referred to. Also the .log file will contain:

 Unused label `eq:2' on page 1
 Unlabelled equation (3) on page 1
 Unused label `tab:1' on page 1
 Unused label `fig:1' on page 1

Note that refcheck should be loaded after the ams packages and the hyperref package.

Relatedly you may also want to check for duplicate labels.

[Tex/LaTex] How to use latexmk in Windows with MikTex and Winedt

The simplest way to run latexmk in its continuous preview mode is to start a command window, change directory to where the LaTeX document is, and then type in the command latexmk -pvc -pdf foo. Then latexmk will run continuously, regularly checking the source files for changes. To stop it, either type a control+C or close the command window.

Possibly there's a way of doing this directly from WinEdt, but an expert on WinEdt would need to tell you about that. It is also possible to set up a file association in Windows so that you can right-click on an icon for the LaTeX file and get the above command run; but I don't have a Windows 7 computer to work out the instructions.

There's no need for autosaving the file. Manual saving is better. With the above command, latexmk will compile your document shortly after you save a changed source file. (An autosave is liable to save your file in the middle of the typing of a LaTeX command, which will result in an error in the compilation, and that will probably be excessively annoying.)
