[Tex/LaTex] How to convert LaTeX to RTF when using sffms extension

I'm just starting out using LaTeX. I've successfully installed MiKTeX and the sffms package for formatting fiction. This is all working OK (converting to PDF). I need to convert my tex files to RTF as well.

I've tried latex2rtf, but it doesn't understand the custom tags defined in the sffms package. Pandoc ignores all the author/word count/header definitions in the tex file, resulting in a document with only the (unformatted) content.

How can I get latex2rtf, Pandoc or some other to-RTF tool to understand the tex file?

(If any editors feel so inclined: I was going to tag this with sffms and latex2rtf as well, but don't have the rep…)

Converting latex files directly to formatted outputs like word or rtf is a pain. From my experience (need to output to Word files often), you should first create the PDF and start from there.

I use PDF converter pro, and it does an excellent job in converting to RTF or Doc. There are other (free) options available but many of the free tools do a horrible job in converting to natively formatted rtf or word documents.

In general I recommend you to place all your complicated figures into separate files and use e.g. the standalone class to be able to compile them separatly and then \input them easily in the main document with the standalone package.

For your existing document you can use the preview package (which is used internally by standalone). It only compiles things wrapped in a preview environment and every such environment as a page. With the tightpage option you get tight pages as I requested.

I would use code like the following to redefine figure to use preview environments and to disable (or include) the \caption. The resulting PDF should have one picture per page. You can then use the page=<number> option of \includegraphics to include it or split it into several PDFs using tools like pdftk allfigures.pdf burst output figure%02d.pdf or Ghostscript.

[Tex/LaTex] Using htlatex to convert LaTeX to HTML

This may help you. I made a batch script that I use when working with htlatex. You can copy and paste it into a file, and save it with .bat extension, e.g., html.bat.

You need to open a command prompt, you can type in the search bar cmd, or press WndLogo + R and write cmd to execute the command prompt. The command prompt is an application in which you can run different commands. In the top of the window you will see the current directory. For example, C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe. You can check this tutorial for more information.
Then you just need to move to the directory in which you have your file, using cd path. For example, if you have your LaTeX documents in a folder in the C drive called My Latex, you can move to that folder using cd "C:\My Latex". Note that you have to surround the path with quotes due to the spaces on it.
You can execute the script using html.bat file.tex. That will create a html directory in which you can find your file. (This assumes you have your file in the same directory as your .tex file. However, you can place the script in a folder and add that folder to your environment variables. Then you will be able to call it from anywhere.)
- If you don't want to use the script you can simple execute htlatex file.tex html "" -dSomeDir "--interaction=nonstopmode". The html option sets the type of output, -dSomeDir sets the output directory to SomeDir (although it is not mandatory, it is a good idea as htlatex produces several files), and the nonstopmode tells the compiler not to stop if it can avoided.

The script looks like this:
