I'm using the beamerposter package to make a conference poster. Specifically I'm using the quite popular template provided here:

How do I change the color of the title of the poster?
Also, how do I change the color of the author names?
It's probably easiest to just download the template for a generic poster at the link I provided for a minimal working example.
To get it in A1 format, replace the line
\usepackage[scale=1.24]{beamerposter}
with
\usepackage[scale=0.78,size=a1]{beamerposter}
\setlength{\paperwidth}{33.1in}
\setlength{\paperheight}{23.4in}
You need to load the exscale package after lmodern has been read in. This is a common problem when needing these fonts at large sizes, see the discussion on the TeX FAQ at http://www.tex.ac.uk/cgi-bin/texfaq2html?label=exscale.
Incidentally your code snippet is missing the xfrac package for the \sfrac command. However, as egreg correctly says this looks bad and is ambiguous. Perhaps you mean \tfrac instead - this is what I have now used.

The template uses a file called beamerthemeconfposter.sty, which is included in the zip file when you download this template. The file beamerthemeconfposter.sty contains the line
You can replace "jblue" with another color like "red" to change the color of the title.
The color of the author names can be changed similarly.
