texstudioword count
The Text Analysis tool in TeXstudio is quite useful, but I seems I can not find a direct and accurate way to obtain the total number of words in the compiled PDF file.
As I understood, this tool counts the phrases in text. Even if set the length each phrase to only one word, I do not get an accurate count in comparison with the word count function in Texmaker.
What do you think?
P.s., I'm using the TeXstudio V2.8.6, MAC.
Here is the solution using bashful. Note that you need to run latex or pdflatex using -shell-escape option

\usepackage{bashful}
\pagestyle{empty}

texcount -sum -1 tmp.tex
\END
\begin{document}
This file has \emph{\bashStdout} words.
\end{document}

If you (re)define \footnote as follows
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
Alice has a cat\footnote{Bob has a blob}
\def\footnote#1{}
Alice has a cat\footnote{Bob has a blob}
\end{document}
the words in footnotes will not appear. Then you can choose a suitable tool, e.g. http://felix-cat.com/tools/wordcount/ to count words in the obtained PDF file. Of course, if your journals suggest another tools, they will be preferable.
