My table is too long for the page

I am working on my thesis and am not a champion of Latex. I am making tables and 1 table gets cut off and does not continue on the next page. I already tried adjusting the width of the columns but the table is too big. I also seem to have a problem with the caption function, as it does not want to give my table a caption. Help would be greatly appreciated.

[Tex/LaTex] Too long vertical lines in table

This is tricky. What you have is actually a 3-dimensional table that you want to represent as a 2-dimensional image on the page. There are 3 input values and 3³ = 27 output values.

I think what you want here is Occam's Razor...

Right-align first column
Pad inner columns (groups of 3) with extra horizontal space
Write 0.5 as fraction ½
Throw in some double-stroked rules (I know that sounds crazy, since it's a reverse-simplification)
Then remove as much as possible and see where that leads...

For example:

You could even play around with removing the vertical rules entirely and replacing them with vertical whitespace:

Maybe even rewrite the zeros as dashes, if the data still happens to make sense that way...

Note: I'm not sure that the latter two forms are actually clearer, even though they are less complex for the eyes to process. The reason is that, as mentioned earlier, this is inherently a 3-dimensional table with 27 values. The final two forms — which use horizontal rules only — muddy the dimensionality as they lead the eye to scan left-to-right. Compare and contrast this with the second form, in which the double-stroked rules serve to separate the three 3x3 grids from the labels above and to the left.

As much as I dislike vertical rules and double-stroked rules in general, I think the second form might actually be the clearest of the five shown here. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

I have two suggestions, not ranked in any order. Implementing either suggestion should save more than enough vertical whitespace to make the sectioning header and the table both fit on a single page.

Don't use \begin{center} ... \end{center}, because the center environment introduces a lot of vertical whitespace. Instead, use a \centering directive. You might have something like the following instructions near the top of the table

Separately, you may have noticed that the table is currently wider (by a tiny amount) than \textwidth; hence, neither the center environment nor the \centering directive actually have an effect. A suggestion on how to overcome this is provided below.
The amount of vertical whitespace between each of the groups of two rows is quite generous. Instead of a full blank line, you might employ a bit less vertical space by stating it explicitly as follows

The following example implements both ideas, i.e., it doesn't use the center environment, and it uses 1.25ex as the amount of whitespace between groups of two rows. With these two adjustments in place, the table now fits very comfortably in the page.

It also fixes the issue that the table is wider than the textblock. The fix comes in two parts: First, I omit the horizontal whitespace to the left of the first column and to the right of the final column. This actually makes the table ever so slightly less wide than the textblock. Centering such a table looks a bit like an accident. Thus, in a second step, I replace the tabular environment with a tabular* environment of width \textwidth, inserting the at first odd-looking expression @{\extracolsep{\fill}} in the specification of the tabular* environment; as its name (hopefully) suggests, this directive tells LaTeX to insert a bit of "stretchable" whitespace (\fill) between columns, thus making the entire table exactly as wide as \textwidth.
