MATLAB: Solving ODE

linear algebra

[EDIT: 20110530 22:44 CDT – clarify – WDR]
hey . how i solve this linear equations (ODE) in matlab
x-y-5z-5=0
3x+y-3z=5
y+4=z

Best Answer

x_y_z = [1 -1 -5;3 1 -3;0 1 -1] \ [5 5 -4].';
And crosschecking the second line:
>> 3*x_y_z(1)+x_y_z(2)-3*x_y_z(3) ans = 5
The values in the matrix to the left of the \ have been read off from the x, y, and z coefficients of the linear equations. The values in the vector to the right of the \ have been read off from the implicit right hand sides (constant terms) of the linear equations.
