MATLAB: Simulink get_param and RuntimeObject

Hello!

Is there a way to write this command: rto_add = get_param('TestMdl2/Add','RuntimeObject'); in one of the "Model callbacks" and to work while running the simulation?

I read that is possible to get the result if I use the PostLoadFcn function. The article said: "In a PostLoadFcn callback routine, however, get_param returns the model's parameter values because the model is loaded."

But it's not working…

What I want to do is to get my result and to display it on a GUI, but in real time while running the simulation.

This is an error in the documentation for Simulink 6.2 (R14SP2) in the "Accessing Block Data During Simulation" section. Every block except virtual blocks or blocks that are virtualized (reduced) during the compile process has a RuntimeObject parameter.

To find a list of virtual blocks, please take a look at the documentation accesible by running the following command in your MATLAB 7.0.4(R14SP2) command window:

MATLAB: Am I unable to access model parameters during the model’s PreLoadFcn callback in Simulink 6.6 (R2007a)

This is expected behavior in Simulink 6.6 (R2007a). The PreLoadFcn callback is executed before the model is loaded at all. You can access built-in parameters like 'Solver' during the PreLoadFcn, but you will get default values instead of the values set for this model. For example

get_param('my_model','Solver')

will always return "ode45" although your model might be configured to use "ode23".

You can use the PostLoadFcn callback to access a model's parameters.
