I didn't used to have to type "format compact" every single startup. After upgrading to 2019a, it doesn't stick. The same startup file is in use, and doesn't contain that anyway. Is it supposed to stick, and what might have changed to cause this?

In R2020a, you can change font by choosing font tab from Preferences Dialog Box in Environment Section of Home Tab.
Or, just type preferences in Command Window to launch it.
There, you can set the font type and size.
In general the MathWorks allows a standalone named user or network named user license to be run on up to two computers at the same time. So long as this restriction is met, the licensee may use as many sessions as he likes. Certain licenses may require additional license keys for additional computers.
Network Concurrent licenses are assigned to each user using MATLAB on a particular machine.
