MATLAB: Reading execel file with string.(giving NaN for data values like 10kA)

I want to read a excel file in matlab.

my file is:

1ms 1kA 10V

2ms 2.2kA 3V

3ms 3.6kA 5.4V

using xls read it is giving

NaN NaN NaN

When I remove 'ms', 'kA' & 'V' fromthe excel. then xls can only read. How to solve this problem? How MATLAB can read it as a string?

importdata() cannot deal with using comma as the decimal separator.

Unfortunately to handle numbers that use comma as the decimal separator, you must replace the command with period before converting to numeric. For example if you have a cell array of strings, then

numeric_data = str2double( regexp(YourCellArrayOfStrings, ',', '.') )

data = hExcel.Worksheets.Item('BtchData').UsedRange.Value;  
hExcel.Quit;
delete(hExcel)

The variable "data" will now store all the data that's read from Excel as a cell array.

You can then parse through to read the numeric and text data from the cell array:

for n = 1:r
     for m = 1:c,
        if ischar(data{n,m})
           A(n,m) = NaN; 
        else A(n,m) = data{n,m};
           data{n,m} = [];
        end
     end
end
