MATLAB: Polynomial arrays intersection and area within intersection

Hello,

I don't understand what is meant by polynomial array. I am wondering if it is as simple as what I wrote.

For part 2, I know I need to do some sort of fzero, but I'm not really sure. like fzero(f1,f2) or something along those lines.

@Rick. What Ahmet has given you does in fact help. Your mistake lies in assuming powers for matlab's 'intersect' function that it doesn't have. If you read its documentation you will see what I mean. What you need at this point is 'roots', not 'intersect'. Does that get you going again?

Instead of using fsolve try using vpasolve

syms x
c=0.2:0.1:2;
y=cos(x)-c*x;
for i=1:numel(y)
  sol(i)=vpasolve(y(i),x);
end

Now you can continue with plotting the graph

the approximate solution of each equation is stored in the variable sol

MATLAB: Intersection of two triangles

Just combine the 'polyxpoly' result with two applications of 'inpoly' to test if either set of triangle vertices lies within the other triangle. If there are no intersection points from 'polyxpoly' and the results of 'inpoly' are all negative, then the triangles don't intersect.
