MATLAB: MATLAB stuck on launch window

MATLABstartup hang

64 bit Linux

R2018b

Problem persists even after complete uninstall/reinstall of everything MATLAB and my config directory locally.

No problems having license validated during the install. While the hang seems network related, license validation was nearly instant then.

Start matlab, splash window comes up, CPU at 100%, nothing happens even after 35 minutes.

Control-C does not kill the application, only Control-Z breaks it.

"exit" is a built in function that terminates a MATLAB program. Don't use that name, obviously, or any other name of any other built-in function.

Put the strfind inside the while test and inside a call to isempty(), so make those two lines into this single line.

Okay, I finally figured it out. It was actually a code issue. For one thing, I was nesting functions within mdlOutputs, which I should have known better than to do since you can't nest functions in C. Second of all, I had the block inputs redefined as inputs to the objective function:

double myfunc(unsigned n, const double *x, double *grad, void *my_func_data, double xi, double yi)

Which was overwriting the actual input values with nothing. The funny thing is in my original code I didn't have that mistake; I must have added that to the code in MATLAB on a whim while debugging and forgotten to remove it.
