MATLAB: Matlab quits as soon as i run imshow() command

I am using mac OSX 10.5.8.

Installed software MATLAB 2008a on it.

And i am facing a problem that, as soon as i execute

imshow() command on any image.

it displays the image and then immediately Matlab quits!!

I even tried reinstalling a new updated version of matlab… but the problem still continues!!

This is a known problem, with a work-around. Please see this previous discussion

Use syntax:

imshow(im,[])

when im has non-integer format. Or just do this:

 im = imread('/MATLAB Drive/My Project/images/selfie.jpg');
 figure
 imshow(im)

The file should be at C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2008a\toolbox\shared\imageslib\iptchecknargin.m

If you do not have it then you might need to reinstall the Image Processing Toolbox
