I installed Matlab on Ubuntu and able to start Matlab. Still got the above error message about livescript, Please advise.

Hi,
You can refer to this bug report “Live Editor throws system configuration error message when opened on Linux (1765886)”.
You can try this command : sudo apt-get install libgconf2-4
