MATLAB: MATLAB Guide – Simulating a 4 digit keypad

Hello,

I'm looking to simulate a 4 digit keypad. So when a password of the correct 4 numbers are entered, something is displayed.

I've made a GUI using GUIDE that contains 4 buttons labelled 1 through 4. Now, I want to prompt the user to enter a password. Say the password is 1234, how can I implement this?

I assume it'll involve nested loops, to check if each button is pressed in the correct sequence, however, I am unsure of how to do this.

Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Two things: first, you should create a variable (global) called attempts, this variable is initialize at the beginning, right after the GUI is opened. The rest of the code:

% this goes in your login pushbutton callback function

has to be placed on the callback function. Do you insert a login pushbutton? ( A button that has to be pushed in order to login ) If not, the code should be pasted on the edit box callback function (watch out! I guess you have two edit boxes, one for username and another for password, paste it on the password edit box callback ). I would advice to insert a login pushbutton, but that's up to you.

The error is likely due to the assignment of fastinsert to curs2. That is not a supported syntax. Instead, try the following to view the database:

fastinsert(conn,tablename,columns,tabledata);
curs = exec(conn,'select * from tablename');
curs = fetch(curs);
curs.Data
