MATLAB: MATLAB crashes when using graphics with Intel® OpenGL driver version 10.18.10.3907

Why does MATLAB crash even when using simple plotting commands such as "plot" or "patch"?
My computer is using an Intel® embedded graphics card with OpenGL driver version 10.18.10.3907.
Why is this happening?
