Hello….

what is the mfile coding for least square method to compare the two data is fit or not, or to know the percentage fit between two data? the data is in microsoft excel.

Hi Tiara,

"fit" may be next to everything. If it is a linear fit, just use polyfit, same of course for polynomial fit. Everything else you will need to give us some more information ...

Look at those, should be what you're looking for.

You can find out by asking for the output argument:

[fitobject,gof,output] = fit(x,y,fitType)
output.algorithm

But the real difference between fit and polyfit are the options that you can choose as well as polyfit is strictly limited to polynomials and uses the least squares method.
