MATLAB: Jury table

Hi guys,

I am doing this project purely out of interest (not as a homework) The gist is to take a transfer function and test the stability of it with the Jury table.

I was told to take the denominator and declare it as a vector so that I can use the coeffs. I have been told to use [numz, denz] to extract the coeffs. but I do not know how…

Any kind soul out there?

Using Symbolic Toolbox might be more efficient and easier for you.

syms x
fun=2*x^4-5*x^3-12*x^2+30*x+10
der1=diff(fun,x)
der2=diff(fun,x,2)

and you may get coefficients by coeffs command.

fliplr(coeffs(fun))
fliplr(coeffs(der1))
fliplr(coeffs(der2))

MATLAB: Transfer function with time delay (dead time)

You can make a linear approximation of those time delays (Exponentials in the frequency domain) using the Pade Approximation:

Once you have your linear systems, you can just look at the poles of the system to determine (approximate) stability.
